Where can you get Botox®?

Botox® was discovered in the 1980s by eye doctors looking for a treatment for a twitch of the eye.  During their research, they discovered that in addition to curing a patient’s twitch it also reduced the lines and wrinkles between the eyebrow.

In this blog article, I will discuss the various areas Botox® is now used aesthetically and medically. It is truly an incredible product and over the last 30 years, doctors have found an increasing number of uses for Botox®.

Upper Face

Frown Lines: These are the lines that develop between the eyebrows and above the nose. These lines often give people a slightly angry or tired look. Dr Raman at BTX London highly recommends this area as a starting point in most people’s journey in aesthetics. By injecting Botox® into the glabella muscle above the eyebrows we can relax this muscle, reducing the lines between the brows and also raising the eyebrows slightly. Following treatment in this area, clients will look fresher and more relaxed.

Forehead lines: These are the lines that develop across the forehead as we get older. Horizontal forehead lines are often hereditary, therefore if your parents have deep forehead lines it is more likely you will also be prone to developing them. This is another fantastically effective treatment when injected by an experienced doctor. It is important that you seek out an experienced practitioner as every client’s forehead muscle can be different and therefore a good understanding of anatomy is required to achieve the best results. Dr Raman can tailor the forehead treatment to create a brow lift if you are looking to enhance the shape of your brow.

Nose lines (Bunny Lines): When we sniff or scrunch the nose we often develop lines on either side of the nose. These are sometimes referred to as the bunny lines. With careful placement of Botox® either side of the nose, we can reduce these lines creating a much smoother appearance when we smile or scrunch the nose. This is an increasingly popular area for Botox® treatment. Dr Raman is seeing an increasing number of clients request this treatment as word has spread about the results that can be achieved.

Smile Lines (Crows Feet): The lines that fan out around the eyes when we smile are often known as the crow’s feet. As we age these lines can become static lines and are a sign of ageing. The use of Botox® around the eyes can reduce these lines and prevent the development of crow’s feet. The additional benefit of treating this area is that you can raise the tail of the brow to create a brow lift.

Under Eye: An area that is classed as an advanced Botox® treatment. Care must be taken when injecting under the eye and a thorough assessment of the clients is required to assess suitability for the treatment. With correct patient selection and in the hands of an experienced injector fine lines under the eye can be effectively treated with Botox®. At BTX London Dr Raman is a highly experienced injector who can advise you on the suitability for under-eye treatment.

Lower Face

Lipstick/Smokers lines: The vertical lines that appear around the mouth, visible when pouting or smiling. Another advanced technique requiring a small dose of Botox® carefully placed in the appropriate muscle we can reduce and soften these lines. For the best results, this area will often require a combination of Botox® and filler. Dr Raman has performed this treatment on hundreds of clients with extremely positive feedback. A detailed understanding of lower face anatomy is required when treating the lines around the mouth.

Chin lines: As we get older the muscle in the chin can become overactive. This can lead to a puckering or wrinkled appearance.  A small dose of Botox® in this area has proven to be a highly effective treatment in reducing puckering and smoothing the chin. Dr Raman has been performing chin Botox® treatments for over 10 years.

Jawline (Teeth Grinding – Bruxism)

Teeth grinding or clenching is known as bruxism. Bruxism can be a debilitating condition for many people causing headaches, jaw pain, earache and toothache. It can also disrupt sleep which can then impact your day-to-day life. Botox® has proven to be a game changer in the treatment of bruxism. Dentists and doctors with a detailed understanding of lower face anatomy can inject Botox® into the masseter muscles to relax this muscle. The result is a reduction in teeth grinding and clenching in the jaw area. Dr Raman has numerous happy customers whose life has been transformed by this treatment.
